Regarding Airhead Lust

Currently on New London, CT's CL. If somebody wants it, they'd better move because Ace is at-large with a truck and trailer.

If I were going to stay in Michigan (which may happen) I'd find a K with a sidecar setup. I'm tired of not being able to ride (half safely) when there's snow. A Ural would be cool but I'd like to be able to run 70+ mph consistently and not having old Russian engineering (based on a BMW design or not)

I checked on the Boston BMW side car rig posted by Laitch........guess I'll pass, just a couple of issues: '65 R50 but a '72 75/5 motor, pin-stripes on tank aren't factory spec, and they want $26,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 11 gallon Hoske isn't factory either, Ace. Just roll in there with your trailer; they'll dicker. They're Yankees after all.

Actually that Hoesk tank may be the coolest thing about it.........but I doubt my bladder could hold up between refills. Interesting paint choice, too. Definitely a one-off rig in several ways. But it's about $20,000 too much for what it is.

A buddy has a couple of R69 parked in my garage while clearing things out from his house sale (30 years of hoarding) and another R69S in boxes in his garage attic. One of the R69 has a side car ... lust.

Would much prefer a nice Ural with sidecar and two wheel drive. New and all that...much cheaper..Sturdy. cache.

Nice thing about Urals is I can ride in snow and salt, trash it in the mud, not worry about "period correct" mods and not feel bad if it gets banged up and rusts. Parts are cheap, service is easy and when it wears out I'll get another one. Try that with a Steib on an R69!

Sort of like a K100 vs a K1600, huh?
