Alternator Rebuild

I rebuilt my 50 Amp alternator I bought from Duck for my K75. There are no internal parts specified on the BMW fiches, but they are available through other sources.
 
The bearings can be had from any good supplier, like SKF, FAG, Koyo, etc.
 
The part numbers are 6203-2RS and 6303-2RS. They must have a rubber seal on each side.
 
The slip rings are available.

The Bosch part number on the slip ring is 018740.

So I took the voltage regulator out of my 1991 K75RT and the brushes are worn down to within 1/8" of the holder, has anyone on here successfully soldered in new brushes, or should I just spring for a complete voltage regulator? I have I believe the 33 AMP with the BOSCH 1197311001 voltage regulator assembly.

I have replaced the brushes in a few and all I do is unsolder the old ones and drill a 1/16 hole through where the brushes were crimped in and all is sweet.

Thanks Rick, I tried to get the brushes but no one here offered them, and mail order was about $12 (Canadian), but found a local auto parts place who had the whole replacement regulator for $15, am picking it up tomorrow...

June 14...
Got it and installed, works fine so far. It was from "Wilson" Electrical products (part # 62-15-6635) and total cost was $16.45, a pretty inexpensive repair...

After having some alt. issues I read this thread.
I decided to take the damn thing apart since I had nothing
To loose.
My brushes were shot. After I de-soldered n re-soldered
I stuck it back in and it works perfect.
Total cash investment: $3.00

This was easy.   If ya got probs, try it.
Ride fast, take chances.
