One of the original roundabouts in this part of the country is in my village. Rule has been "Yield to the vehicle in the Circle" for as long as anyone can remember.
At four way stops, vehicles go in the order they arrive; alternating streets if several are lined up on each street, or, if two should arrive simultaneously, the vehicle to the right has the right of way.
The rules of the road I would like explained are those that govern traffic in India. I have no idea how the entire population of that country hasn't perished in traffic accidents. No traffic controls, they drive on both sides of the road, and as far as I can tell use no turning signals. Turns are made with abandon in front of oncoming traffic and with two cars on collision course one will always yield at the last possible instant, sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right. Add in the pedestrians, animals, and push carts who seem to be oblivious to the autos and the confusion is total.
