1985 K100RT Flying Frankenstein
« on: January 09, 2016, 10:50:15 AM »
I found this in someone's yard, with a price tag I couldn't resist. The story. This was supposed to be a cafe racer conversion. It sat outdoors for a couple of years after some electrics had been redone and some new and used parts had been purchased.  New injector harness etc. No battery of course, frozen brakes, sluggish steering and luckily put on non-op with dmv. Back registration went back to 2010!
After 2 months: rebuilt master cylinder so I now have front and rear breaks, cleaned and regreased steering bearings, seat, tailpiece, headlight. The bike now runs and shifts so smoothly thru all gears. I'm continuing to make it safer. Then it will get a refreshing black paint job.
To be continued......
I have finally completed my rebuild after tearing it down to the clutch and repainted it. Pearlescent black. All new fluids and shifts like a dream. Thanks to everyone who helped with answering questions. This is a great forum!

Man, those cafe conversions sure do make for some economical brick purchases!
