I am replacing my air filter and I found this hose. It is attached to the crankcase as in the second photo. Is it just a breather? Nothing to worry about.  It is was tucked under the main frame.  I also have two fittiings on my gas tank with nothing attached to them. I assume one is the water drain for the gas cap cover, and the other is a breather for pressure relief. Should there be hoses on them? And should one be connected to the fitting I found in Photo?

Thanks guys.   I wondered what the hell that "cup" was?! Now I know.  My bike has one!  For the life of me  I couldn't figure out what the hell it was for? :dunno I never made the connection that it is right under those two fittings on my gas tank.  Thanks for the link. Is there anything Drake doesn't know about K Bikes?

 My bike was a demo from a BMW shop in upstate New York, not a California bike. I have no idea why the  hose is there with that little valve connected to it, and not connected at the tank, but only connected at the top of the timing cover with another larger hose.  I am not sure why my bike has it. I will just leave things the way they are and let the cup do its job!  :2thumbup: And I have that shop manual,  and a Clymer manual. I couldn't find it in either one. Thanks for the microfiche.

As long as you have the fitting at the timing case cover exposed, remove the hose and put a cap on the fitting as eventually the check valve or the rubber hose will deteriorate and become a vacuum leak to be looking for later..........

Scott.............Too late! Next time I pop the tank off etc. etc. I will cap it off.  For now I have bigger fish to fry.   My rear caliper is still sticking and I am headed to Colorado on my bike in 3 weeks.  How quick do  motobins ship?  Andy chance I can just take the caliper off,  clean it up etc. to get it working and  finish out the season? I mean if I am rebuilding, my disks are down to 4 mill's (less in spots).  So I am talking about replacing the rotor, pads, and rebuilding the caliper! Time and money are running short!  :musicboohoo:

All I can say it to call Max's and see if they will sell AND ship you the kit.
If you scroll down further and look at the breakdown on the front brake calipers, the rebuild kit is listed as a restricted sale for repair only at the dealer......I would imagine that the rear would be the same.

The US seems to be a lawsuit haven anymore and more and more dealers are having a CYA attitude against stupid people.

Magura(the mfgr of the brake master cylinders) even had a lawsuit filed against them by BMW for selling MC parts to 3rd party vendors, so places like BeemerBoneyard will no longer be able to buy any master cyl rebuild kits.

Then there is MOTOBINS, Yep, they are in England, yes they will sell the parts we want/need. Shipping isn't that bad. I think I got my parts less than 5 days via regular post.
I got both, rebuild kits for the master cyl, and the calipers, no issues.
The rear kit is seals only, seal and dust cap and packet of lube, no crush rings for the banjo bolt, or pistons.
The front kits come with the seals, lube and pistons, also no banjo bolt crush rings.

Also, do not split the caliper at the bolts. The pistons and seals can be replaced and caliper cleaned with out having to split it open.
