Sidecar National 2015
« on: June 30, 2015, 03:41:06 PM »
I took a little 500 mile ride over to the sidecar national in Sturgis last week.

Leaving home.

Rode down to a friends house in Denver on Monday and spent the night and a group of us headed out to Sturgis the next morning.

A fairly pleasant, meaning not too hot, ride through Wyoming and we got camp set up at a reasonable hour.

There were a few other motobricks running around but this seems to be the only picture I got of them.

Sidecar conversion was done by EML in Holland when bike was new in 1985 and then shipped to the U.S.. Leading link and wheels are all EML. Worst part is that they put a full frame on the sidecar side and built a custom dual sided swing arm on their conversions so they would pass a German TUV inspection.

Trip out I was following three friends on Urals so it was a slow ride but I did get about double my usual gas mileage running 50 to 55. Way home I did solo and it cruises 85 through South Dakota and Wyoming just fine at 85 and 90, not so good on the gas mileage at warp speed though. It has an auxiliary fuel tank under the sidecar but it is not hooked up, one of the projects I need to get done on it.

As far as storage I can put most everything I need for camping in the trunk and still have an empty sidecar.
