4 corners, my way. part II
« on: May 31, 2015, 03:00:26 PM »
made the trek to madawaska, maine. lovely ride, roads and country-side.
folks in madawaska have embraced their identity as a corner of the USA, built a nice park to commemorate the geographic anomaly and provide a great photo-op.
check it out: http://www.madawaskafourcorners.org/
Flew the lovely Mrs K to RI so that she could visit w/family.
i rode up from Virginia and spent a couple days with the in/out-laws.
Officially started the trip in exeter, RI with breakfast at Middle of Nowhere.
took a side-trip to marth's vineyard via ferry from woods hole. nice place to visit but i wouldn't go near it during summer season.
rode up coast to Maine.
passed by Mount Katahdin, highest point in Maine and terminus of Appalachian Trail.
Once I got the photo at corner #2 I headed west through New Hampshire, Vermont, Lake Placid area of New York and ended up at niagara falls.
total mileage was 3108, averaged 42.5 MPG with 2-up, seldom rode on the slab stuck mostly to rural and secondary roads.
the LT ran like a champ and never skipped a beat.
this was a much better ride than the slog to key west i made back in march.
heading for Blaine, WA towards the end of June and will get both west coast corners then.
cheers!
