Alex from Massachusetts :D
« on: May 13, 2015, 06:54:39 PM »
Hey there, my name is Alex and I'm from Cape Cod,MA. I just got into riding and have picked up a 1987 K100RT with 120,001 miles from a friend. The bike has been mechanically maintained quite well but the body leaves much to be desired. I have hopes of turning it into a Cafe racer this winter but will just be riding it around in the summer and enjoying the nice weather. I come here in hopes of learning about this bike and its inner workings.

Welcome. Looks like you have an RT that lost its fairing. I have an RS that lost its fairing. Have fun!

shouldn't an 87 have a fork brace?  front end might be transplanted off an 85.

You're right. It's the olde style one-piece front fender too. This motorcycle has some tales to tell (if it could).

How do I get the hazards to stay on? I tried clicking both directional buttons on the handle bars and no luck. Perhaps there is a dead relay or something? Also some how the left directional button broke and am no in need of a new one. I will have to glue is back on until I snag another one.  :dunno

Hazards were an option and there would be a rocker switch on the dash with a red triangle if you had it.  I was able to buy just the plastic paddle for the blinker years ago, much cheaper than the whole switch.
