PDX to the Crater Lake to the PCH to the Oly
« on: April 11, 2015, 01:01:49 PM »
Unless some unexpected conflict arises I'm planning to head south to CA on the K75 tomorrow.

Slab to the Columbia River then the 26 and 97 to Bend. Sunday overnight camping (maybe) at Crater Lake.

Still trying to figure out the most yeehaw route from Crater Lake to Hwy 96 north of Yreka.

Then I'll wind on down through the mountains to Hydesville/Fortuna. Will probably end up camping somewhere in the mountains Monday night.

At the 101 I'll decide to either head south for a day or head home on the coastal road back to WA.

If anybody want to join me, let's go!

Tim, I have never been on it, but Howard Prairie Road to Hwy 66, or someway to get to Hwy 66 which is the most Yeehaw around.  The last part, close to Ashland is the best part, super tight curves forever it seems like.  Dead Indian road is good and fun as well, just not as tight corners, better to make a little time.  If you went 62 to 97, then 66 out of K Falls.....  Weather might be  a factor this week, as it snowed in the mountains, may prevent the Crater lake campout?  If so go through Prospect.  Stay off I5, opps I guess I didn't need to tell you that part.  Look at https://tripcheck.com/Pages/CamerasEntry.asp  for real time cameras.   Maybe you would be better off on the coast?  Again snow, although tomorrow is supposed to be great in WV

Crap! Guess I should have checked the webcams! Thanks for the link.

Crater Lake looks un-campable and certainty uncomfortably cold.

I'll need to give this a little more thought...

I'm very surprised you made it given the condition of your valves.

Well, hang out there, Johnny. I'll be down in a June when I get a break from work.
