A short ride around a coupla states in Oztraylya
« on: January 09, 2015, 03:45:38 AM »
So I bought this K75s about 5 weeks ago. It seemed to run ok although I noticed a loose fairing and stuffed steering head bearings. Did some maintenance to get it up to operational requirements.
My Mother In Law stayed with us of the Christmas period so I made sure the bike was prepped. We left her on Nanna duties while me and the wife took off for a quick run around 2 states, caught up with a few friends and picked up my new to me set of tragkorbs for the bike.

The route

We left home about 5pm and headed up to Wedderburn for the evening. It was still 40c + deg when we left… damn hot for the 300km ride north.

Sunset just on approaching Wedderburn

the following day,out in the Mallee country we head

Nice little town of Sealake for refreshments

Arrived at Loxton and had birthday beers while the bike kept good company

Left my friends house and chased him down to Waikerie which is a well known gliding centre here in Oz.

Some of the vineyards as we passed through the Barossa Valley

then down to Adelaide where there were massive fires in the hills. No loss of human life but lots of animals lost as well as property.
We are still almost 100km from the fires. The smoke haze gives an idea of the size

Then onto the picturesque town of Victor Harbour and surrounds where I picked up my new tragkorbs. These originally came off an R100RT. I'll respray them when time permits.

more to follow

Victor Harbour and surrounds

yes thats smoke haze from the fires….

Backroads and ferries cause its more fun. Made it to the 1 horse town that is Narrung

making our way around Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert

Found the Big Lobster at Kingston S.E.

Followed the coast around to Robe.

Spent a bit of time at Robe admiring the pristine beach and flora

as well as watching the start of a storm

Beautiful Beachport

Moved onto Mt Gambier and the Blue Lake

From there it was a straight run home as the weather closed in.
Covered just over 2000km for 5 days but this trip wasn't about distance.

I have a slight gearbox leak which I'll attend to when I do the input shaft spline lube as well as a slight final drive weep from that big seal.
Probably also time to change all the brake hoses for braided lines.
Overall the bike went well.
Temperatures ranged from mid 20c to 44c

Nice K75S! Great pictures! Great ride report!

I need to get in the habit of stopping for a lot more pictures along the way.

You live in a beautiful area.

Just looked out the window into the blowing snow ... so found your pics very therapeutic - and a reminder that better riding weather will return ....

Cheers!
