K100RS 16v Exhaust Replacement?
« on: August 14, 2014, 10:04:28 AM »
It's time to replace the muffler and exhaust manifold on my 1991 K100RS 16V. I'm still trying to decide if I want to get OEM or aftermarket... Used or new....

Any input on your favorite exhaust for K100?

Also, word has it that the OEM exhaust on the 16v bikes is not as good as the OEM exhaust on the 8v bikes. Someone also told me the 8v exhaust would fit a 16v bike. Think that would work?

Thanks brickheads

Just looking at the microfiche... looks like 8v and 16v are the same... maybe?

They all physically interchange, but you may need to move a bracket here or there.

The 16v is one piece, the 8v has seperate downpipes(sidepipes?) you could fit the 8v pipes and have a 4 into 1 manifold made up and use any can.

My dad has a 1985 K100 with with manifold pipes and exhaust that he is willing to give me to replace mine. Is there any differences that will make it not fit, or work properly? You gentlemen give me the impression that if I took his off, I shouldn't have much trouble getting it onto my bike. Thoughts?
