I just noticed that I've been gone for too long! Season 2015 was good and bad for me. About 38 000 kms/24 000 miles.
My wife Viivi got a bike of her own: http://www.vanhamoto.net/2015/05/ma-tulen-dollyn-kanssa.html and http://www.vanhamoto.net/2015/08/moottoripyoran-madallus-ja.html  - and she learn quickly to ride!

But I fell and broke some bones: http://www.vanhamoto.net/2015/12/kaaduin-wagner-rikki-hiljaisuus.html

We saw nice places around this country like this waterfall: http://www.vanhamoto.net/2015/09/hepokongas-ja-muuta-markaa-kajaanin.html

NO Riding in Finland
« Reply #27 on: February 02, 2016, 01:06:52 AM »
Well, it's NOT the best riding season in Finland as it's Winter so no riding this time. But how about a sauna in a bus? A moving sauna with living room for chatting and beer? A bus that stops at lakes (they were just starting to froze) for a swimming brake, at motorcycle dealer, at bar... and people are wearing just swimming suits and bathrobes?

Story and lots of pics: http://www.vanhamoto.net/2016/01/saunabussi-oinen-uinti-uimapuvussa.html

Riding season is really on now here... we spent the First May riding in East Fienland
Story and pics http://www.vanhamoto.net/2016/05/vappu-varkaudessa-kolilla-kevaan.html

In the middle Finland lakes were still ice covered but almost no snow. Southern lakes were free from ice.

Mostly, but the left wrist is still painful and doesn't do like it should. Thanks to my insurance company - they didn't pay physical therapy and I don't have afford for that.  :dunno2:

Wow I didn't realize that Finland is just like the USA.
It isn't exactly like the USA. It's a modified Medicare/Medicaid arrangement but the difference is you need not be elderly or impoverished to receive primary care without cost.

Treatment for the initial complaint is supported by national health care. Elective and outpatient treatment is often performed by the private sector. In those cases, sometimes  treatment is covered by national policy; sometimes it isn't. Private sector service fees must be paid by the patient at the time of treatment. If the service qualifies, reimbursement to the patient by national health care comes later.

I wanted to bump Oma's thread to repost this link to his website. He has an abiding interest in motorcycles and cars. His photography is excellent and just the thing to inspire wrenching and future riding plans when some of us are off the road.

If you use google chrome as your browser and hit the translate button google does a pretty decent job of turning Finnish into English

There is a Translate function in the upper right corner of the homepage. Pick your language, or learn a new one!

Winter is still here but we are getting ready for the spring and rides - to get more ride reports! Mr Oma Aika (=my time) bikes are getting service at the moment but all Viivi had to do was washing her bike. She got that idea while she was dressed for a totally different situation. First she got shampoowater on her new leather skirt and and the only spare-skirt in the car was short. Very short. On the other hand, that incident caused some great unplanned pics!

The new leather skirt needed to be replaced...

...with this skirt.

There were naturally some other people getting in and out  in that big garage (a bomb shelter actually) so they probably had a good time!

More of that here with pics and text (use the translator on the upper right corner): http://www.vanhamoto.net/2017/02/kevatta-valmistellessa.html
(and at the end of the story there are four tiny dots  - links to hidden pics only for very openminded people!)

I'm bumping this thread because Oma is still creating excellent photos of bikes of all kinds and ages. http://www.vanhamoto.net/
Pick your language for translation in the upper right corner, but the photos speak for themselves.

Thanks... yes, I've been a lazy poster, but we do every while and then new ride reports and more. Doctors say I may have one or two seasons more to ride, but I think I have more. Riding keeps me alive! And Viivi does more for our blog these days.
Our favourit is the northern Finland and Norway/Ice See, like this http://www.vanhamoto.net/2017/09/norja-jos-se-on-uskonto-mina-liityn.html ("If Norway is a religion, I'll join" said Viivi)

But look at the stories on the right side of the page, they are sorted by year and month.
(If some of the readers are very open minded, there are quite often hidden pics at the end of the story, tiny dots or x's - but those pics may be offending for some people)

Well. it's been a while... but I'm still here on Earth. The maximum time doctors gave me was full December 7th but here I am. In April we will start a new riding season among all others.
But while waiting for that we are publishing trips of the last Summer in our Blog.

Like today we published 10th part of our 4 weeks tour in the North https://www.vanhamoto.net/2020/01/davas-10-naissa-et-ehka-ole-norjassa.html
(And for Johnny and some other openminded people, there are still those hidden pics chosen by herself at the end of most stories)

Translation of the site's text into English has improved, Oma and Viivi! The subjects for photography are splendid, as usual.  icon_cheers

That's great to hear! We just yesterday published the latest story, it's gonna be a 12-part story about a month lasting tour in Norway last Summer. The whole story and all pics are here: https://www.vanhamoto.net/2020/10/kuukausi-norjassa-prologi-puolangan.html
