You're breaking an inter-galactic rule, german996. That's a beemer—a good-looking one, too. "Bimmers" are cars, even in the oak and mesquite-clad Verdugo Hills, where, as a boy, I listened to coyotes, helped my family push mud out the front door that had broken through the back patio doors during a mudslide, and watched the hills burst into flame every now and then with sirens relentless wailing in the background—that is, when I could see through the smog on the way to John C. Fremont elementary.

I find GS's fugly.  Functional, but ugly.  Nice little box but it's no 22l.  Does that mini-fenderette on the back tior actually do anyting?

It's a mud skirt designed to reduce the number of manly-generated dirt clods contaminating the squeeze who is riding pillion.

I actually wouldn't mind an R100GS. I'd even whip one in purple. Weird how there used to be a time when a purple motorcycle was cool

Howdy,
1986 K100RS minus the RS
Newer front end with a fork bridge and new springs, RT handlebars, Aprilia Tuono mirrors, SS brake lines, EBC floating rotors front and back with EBC brake pads, RAM rear shock, Pirelli Sport Demon tires and other stuff.
The headlight brackets are ugly so they have been updated with a set that are much nicer!

I like the R bikes. They have their own kind of cool. Calling them fugly is a bit extreme....I find my K100RT on the homelier side of things....truth be told. But the damn brick engine is so compelling. Wear it with confidence and it will be YOUR style...no worries. Two wheels and an engine...a pretty great proposition regardless of the nameplate.

Stay safe out there!

hello , I feel that this picture should be here, I removed the lower fairing on my k75S to get it resprayed, and went for a ride with a guy that I met when I was trying to buy his K100RSSE before I bought my K75S, I am lurking him into joining Motobrick,,,,,

Hi folks!

I have owned my '85 K100RT for twenty-nine years, and still rode it this morning.  It is my 'baby", and runs flawlessly, with only the occasional, intermittent speedometer problem I would like to solve, and currently, something is up with the horn- I hear the relay, but nothing from either horn- still probably the relay.

Anyway, this bike has NEVER left me at the side of the road in all that time and 92,000+ miles, and still smooth as silk.

Pictures are me on the bike twenty-nine years ago, the bike back then, and a picture on the anniversary of my ownership last year by the Gulf that BMW put on their Facebook page.

Long live the K100 series!

Very cool!  I got mine new sept '86, it stranded me once on the way home after putting money down on a new Ural.  I hurt it's feelings, can't blame it!.  186K still going strong, welcome another K owner in for the long haul.

Hello, I've just realised that this is the correct place to show off my bike and not the newbie welcome thread... so here is my project.
These are the only pictures i have of the bike.

So i paid £400 for this 2 weeks ago, some may argue i paid to much for the state of it and some may say i got a bargain but i bought this off a Police officer from my local town, if i cant trust him for a good bike then who can i trust lol...  Anyway enjoy.

Regards Lewis

One main reason I bought it is because it has low miles. It's only done 57k. Just trying to track down some injectors at a decent price as they cost a fortune. Been on some of the links on here... going to have a good look through and see if you can use more modern injectors. I'm sure there is a thread on it so all chill your boots before you confine me to the CAN YOU READ bin lol.

Plenty of information on how to clean injectors on the web. I personally use a sonic jewelry cleaner I got of Aldi. I use it with injector cleaner instead of the recommended water. I am not recommending you do this just saying it has worked for me.
