Sidestand retractor

Hello,

New owner of a '90 K75S here! I picked up some parts to reactivate the sidestand retractor. Everything seems pretty straight forward, however I am unsure of the fitment of this spring. When the retractor lever is pulled, the spring twists because it it loose on its shaft. The end of the spring scratches the casing above it. Is this normal? Thanks!

It doesn't look like you've connected the rod to the lever in that photo. The rod should be passing through the rectangular opening of the lever then the rectangular nut should be threaded onto the rod and nest into the rectangular opening. What's happening there?

Ignore that, the I hadn't connected the rod before the photo was taken. Everything works when the rod is connected, but the return spring for the retractor lever just doesn't seem right.

In the future, only post photos that are relevant. What do you mean by everything works when the rod is connected? How about posting a photo of the current setup?

pic of the spring setup looks correct.  it is a loose fit....until the bar is connected, then it stays under tension.

If it returns the lever, it works regardless of how it seems.

I seem to remember that spring not having a good contact point, just rubs the casing.  I'll have to go out tomorrow and check.  Don't worry, we're all not as persnickety as Laitch

Thanks, this is what I was looking for. It just seemed very unusual to me, given how well the rest of the bike is engineered. I was starting to wonder if I had the right parts.
