I think the term that best describes Paris Hilton is "camp bike".

Those photos  . . . a foggy day in Olde New York, I guess.

Worth looking just to see what Max charges. $99 to adjust idle.  $152 to flush the brakes. $80.50 for 3 spark plugs.

I should be rich, what with all the dough I've saved doing that stuff myself.

Me too!

$146.30 for an oil change? And I have friends who don't understand why I like motorcycles that can be repaired in my own shop.

I will show my wife the cost of the clutch and rear main - always helps with the "I need this tool" justification

Still looking, but I have a line on a 1988 K75S in Cali being sold by a member here, at least I think he is. He says "41K miles; strong runner, no mechanical issues. new clutch, rear brake pads, clutch cable, spline lube, fluid changes @40k mi.  YSS rear shock. previous owner did a (slow) drop- some scratches on fairing, small dents in tank,2 broken (repaired) turn signal lens." He's taking pics this week (bike is at his brother's house in El Chico (sic), a 3-hour drive) so I can have an idea what he's got. I'm going to ask if he has any service or dealership documentation. I'll post more when I get the pics.

So I've located two S bikes and will decide this week. One is an '88, the other is a '93. The '88 is red and has had a good bit of preventive work done to it (previous post), asking price is $2200. The '93 is blue, has ABS issues and is pretty well weathered, asking $750. Either one will require uShip or similar to get it home.

I have pics of the '93 but they are not very hi-def. I'll be getting pics of the '88 on Thursday. Neither come with tragkorbs. Decisions, decisions.

For $750 I would buy both and it would be one of the easiest decisions for me to make.

Normally I would agree, but I am retired now so cannot throw money about like I used to. to get them shipped to my home will add another 500 to 700 dollars and the cash kitty just isn't that deep anymore.

Now if I could have any luck unloading the three Hondas I'm trying to sell...

What are the ABS issues with the $750 bike?  A flashing ABS light can be as simple as somebody trying to start the engine with something unplugged.

You say the $2200 bike has had service done.  Is it ready to ride?  How far from home is it?  Can you do a Fly-and-Ride.  Can you trailer it?

I'm in my 70's and have done a 2000 mile F&R and trailered from 800 miles away.  Being retired, time isn't an issue for me, so getting the bike can be worked into a nice trip.

The $750 bike is on cycletrader.com. The guy says he hasn't had the bike long and doesn't know what ails the ABS, so yeah, could be anything including lack of knowledge on these bikes. The $2200 bike is a rider and I told my wife already I might fly out there and ride back, since the flying is free. 1300 miles from Chico to here. She's still laughing, can't make her stop.

1300 miles is a two day trip for a K75.  Three days if you want to do some sightseeing.  All you need is your riding gear, a credit card and a change of underwear.  The only problem this time of year is the weather.

Is this the $750 bike?

https://www.cycletrader.com/listing/1993-BMW-K-75-S-5010884141

I'd ask for more photos and maybe a video of the engine running.  Even better would be a video of the bike doing a drive by, starting and running up through the gears.  For $750, if it's a good runner, you could do a lot of work with the cash you save from buying a runner.  It's $1450 less than the other.  Could be a good winter project if you like working on it.

That’s the one. The guy replies once a day, usually around 10:00 MST. Not very communicative. He gave me his number, I’m gonna call him later this evening. I get the feeling he bought this to cafe it but thought better of it after he got it. I’ll see what he has to say. Hard to believe no one local has jumped at this one.

IMO, k75's are one of the best motorcycles you can buy dollar for dollar in used bikes here in the US, but they seem to fly under the radar with most buyers.  Good for us, otherwise they would be priced like /5 airheads are.

There was a little whoopsy with brake fluid here, but the current owner says it's only noticeable in direct sunlight.
Tires are practically new but six years old so probably going to replace them right off. Has Battlax BT45s now. ABS is all there but bypassed. Not sure if it has heated grips but I'd like to add them if not.
I asked tons of questions and he volunteered even more info, seemed very transparent. He's a Honda guy and got this on a lark because it was just sitting and he hated to see such a low-mileage bike languishing. I got it for two large bills and eight smaller ones so happy about the deal. Now to get it shipped here!

Hi Bon Jon Bovi,  congrats, looks like you got a good one.  Nah I've got riders manuals,  but you're also going to get the holy grail,  the factory workshop manual.

Hi volodor, I've got Haynes,  Clymer and Flying brick manuals,  but on the hunt for the factory manual.  A few times I've gone for adds that say service manual that appears to be factory but ends up as flying brick or something else,  thanks for the help though anyway.

Sometimes the normal ones just don't cut it and you need the factory manual.
