Spline Lube Lube
« on: August 16, 2019, 08:52:42 AM »
greetings...

Rotella SD

The special-duty moly grease, Shell Rotella SD grease, is formulated for vehicle and equipment lubrication. Made with a moly solid lubricant (molybdenum disulfide), itís designed for demanding applications that are subjected to the high shock loads of rapid starts and stops, impacting chassis points, sliding pins, trailer hitches, and axle splines.

It isn't on the data sheet so it's proprietary information that Shell doesn't feel is important to disclose. Trust the packaging; it has a strong sense of industrial competence. The empty tube can be re-purposed for cake decorating. That's a plus.

What about just mixing your own grease up with moly powder? That got to be better, hasnít it?
You can make it really thick, then.

That probably isn't as carcinogenic as inhaling paper fumes but let us know its outcome as your vaping choice.

Looks to me that there are a number of options for spline lube.

I think the most important thing is to ensure we do it regularly, for me the rear every tire change and the clutch 20K.

These work for me on the Bricks and Airheads and will last a long time if used properly.

Didnt realise they greased the marines in America. Is that why they are slippery characters in war?
