« on: August 05, 2019, 02:14:46 PM »
Hi,I'm ed AKA yamaguzzi.I collect bikes and have a 1988 K100RS in that collection as my over the road travel ride.Had it a couple years now and love it . It was a non running low mileage machine when it was given to me and now she's a good running motorcycle that gets used often.

I'm speechless.  Awestruck.  Jealous, and perturbed.

Hey,they are meant to be ridden just like horses and that's what I do. I ride, camp, cook my own meals and have everything I need with me on my horse. This was my Moto Guzzi 850_t on a 3 month ride all over the US and western Canada. Now I have my K to do this with . The K seems more suited to carrying that load. You know, unless you have real deep pockets going out on the road for 3 months is only possible if you do it this way. I spent under 5000 US to wander for 3 full months and cover 14000 miles. The K should be able to do that for less seeing as it gets better gas mileage. At last check I was getting just shy of 50mpg on the high

The only other rider I recall here that packs a load like that on a K is F14Crazy, and he was riding two-up some of the time, too. It's inspiring!

When I only had my Yamaha 2 strokes I did the same thing with them .When there is a will there is a way. It is the will that makes it happen

That's an impressive beast emerging from the forest.  Not sure I'll ever pack that much on my K75 but good to know that these machines can take a burden.

Inspiring!  I have loaded mine up pretty good for camping, tent, big ole dry bag, couple folding camp chairs, backpacker backpack... but now I know I was still in AAA league.

Still handles well under way, I bet.

That minimal compact stuff is ok for short trips but to go out and wander for weeks and months at a time you need gear ,cloths, tools, and spare parts & supplies .

YG I already have spares and tools on my Brick the other tragkorb and top box accommodates food water and clothes. Once the days riding is over you can just wear shorts and a tee shirt. In mid summer you can loose the tent use the hootchee and a ground sheet.
Regards Martin.
