K100 lake michigan loop
« on: August 13, 2019, 12:41:28 PM »
Just looped the top half of lake Michigan on my K100RS.  It ran flawlessly, other than some annoying vibration around 60 mph.  We had an old R60/2 in our group that doesn't like going much over 60mph.  The K likes going >70.  I scored over 50 mpg for multiple tank fillings, even the last 200 miles which was mostly over 80mph.  The K is a beast at 80, no vibration and the slipstream moves way up over the top of my helmet.
Cheers,
Ray

Absolutely, missing Chicago traffic and Gary is no loss.

Nice! the badger or the high speed ferry?

I took my t-dub across on the high speed ferry last summer and bombed around the manistee national forest for a weekend.  It was awesome.

Never taken a moto on the badger so far.

I've taken the Badger quite a few times. Slow relaxing trip with a good view and decent cocktails. Arrives in Manitowoc around midnight which makes it tough to continue on due to the deer population.

We took the Badger because the less expensive high speed ferry out of Muskegon was booked.  Man, 119 (Tunnel of Trees) south from Cross Village is a fun road when it's empty.  Don't go near it in the fall as it's bumper to bumper.  At 8 am on a Sunday morning we were flying through the curves with no traffic, and although it's no Dragon's Tail, it's a load of fun.
