Rear Rack off K75S - SOLD
« on: July 11, 2019, 07:05:05 PM »
Hey All!  Trying to clean out my garage.  This rack was installed on my 1988 K75S when I bought it.  It is a little rusty, but not too bad.  I have no idea what the manufacturer is.  Make me an offer.  Buyer to pay shipping.

Due to the large box, the shipping cost will be a little high.

That is a classic Reynolds Rack. Here's a photo from Reynold's 1985 catalog as supplied by Snowbum—a renown BMW moto specialist. Get to know his site if you haven't already.

The Reynolds Rack is a great find for somebody. There don't seem to be a lot of them knocking around. They clean up quite nicely with a little sandpaper and a can of black Rustoleum.

ETA -- like Natalena says below, the installation is fussy, and taking it on and off is not the work of a moment. But be patient and look carefully and you'll figure it out.

Reynolds Rack. I absolutely LOVE mine, and it's a lot more functional than the cowl rack. Makes carrying the bicycle easy :)

Whoever buys this; the installation is not straight forward, and the rear bolts may not line up for the Z-rack. instead of drilling the Reynolds Rack, I just zip tied (used 2) the reduced-load bearing rear attachment of the Z-rack onto the Reynolds Rack...the front two attachment points actually support the Z fine.*

*your results may vary, do not install with zip ties if you have a history of medullary cancer, type 2 diabetes, incontinence, excessive scalp flake or psoriasis, non-symmetrical appendages, are allergic to Scotch Balls, Uni, or boiled okra, are currently on Centrum, Pop Tarts, or free-range meats, and are known to bathe in outdoor environments. As with all K-bike additions or changes, consult with MotoBrick before starting or stopping. Serious injury, allergic reactions, and death may ensue; off-set by mechanical success, electrical conductivity, and pure riding Nirvana.

Ok, so I took this part, all packaged up, to the Post Office and got a price of $47.13 to mail it to a Florida address.  The box is pretty big, that's why the price is so high.  If anyone wants this part, let me know.  The original offer fell through due to the shipping cost.

Seriously . . . I'm not aiming to cheapskate-shame any particular Motobricker or anything . . . but this rack is a massive find. I'm mystified that Paratrooper doesn't want to hang on to it. But you can lurk around for years and never see another one. I'm so glad I hung on to mine.

I'm with Billday. If I didn't already have a Reynolds, I'd buy this one pronto. In fact, kinda thinking about just getting it as an investment, but taking it out of the stream to make a profit would probably result in bad Karma points.

I have no use for it and didn't like how it looks on the bike.  The side cases provide me with all the storage I need.  That's why I am not keeping it.  Seems to me someone else might want to use it, so I put it on here.  No sense in it just sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Julian,

No, I was referring to another guy here that wanted the rack, but the shipping cost was too much for him.  Just so happens he is from FLA also.  I will text you the info in just a bit.
