Aftermarket temperature gauge and sender

Hi all, i have fitted an aftermarket temp gauge and sender to my 1985 k100 (sender fitted to drain plug), my worry is that the sender probe extends 10 mm into the drain plug hole - could this affect the flow around the pump??

Any extension into the path of coolant will obstruct its flow to some degree; how cooling will be affected by your setup is unknown. If your moto's fan system functions as it should but the engine runs hotter than usual, it would be fair to consider the temperature probe might be contributing to overheating. Keep us informed of how well it works for you. If you want to quit worrying about that particular outcome, replace it with the OEM part.

Thanks for the reply the only problem is the ohms range of the sender has to match that of the gauge, no idea what the oem sender ohms range would be (i have looked but unable to find any info). Thanks again.

I have installed a Koso sender replacing the drain plug, and have ridden about 50km with no sign of blocking or anything. Has worked fine, I was worried tat it would prevent the propeller in the water pump to spin, so I estimated how deep the sender would go. There was enough thread, so I assume it can not block the circulation either.

This info will not help you, you must see it for yourself how it goes...
