Morton's Open House 6 Apr
« on: April 02, 2019, 04:13:33 PM »
Any other brickheads going to Morton's Open House day in Fredricksburg this Saturday 6th (0900-1600)?
Suppose to be a nice day in the afternoon.
Cheers
If you see a K75 with a bike rack, that's me :)

I'm planning on attending depending on the weather, I'm always able to find some "bargain bin" items that I can't live without.

Looks like there may be some rain here in the morning but I like the ride on US 17.  Look for the Dakar Yellow K75S.

I think mine was the only motobrick in attendance this year.

Attendance was much lower than previous years probably associated with the foggy/drizzle weather that morning and that they no longer provide a free lunch.

Because of this I was able to do two demo rides, the first on a 310R and the second on a F850GS.  I found the 310 fun with a lot of shifting to keep up with the group, it was 666; 60mph, 6k rpm in 6th gear.  If I stayed in the 6k to 8-9k rpm range it was responsive and not buzzy, all-in-all a fun machine and I think the GS version would make a great light off-road machine.  The F850GS had a great instrument panel cluster and was very powerful with minimal buzz at the bars.  The only issue I had was when upshifting from 2nd to 3rd where it felt as if the shifter was disconnected and would not engage to upshift.  This may only be a concern with this bike but as I told the staff, "if I bought this it would be coming back for a fix".

As usual the staff at Morton's was great and I bought a Cardo system and as a great bonus won a pair of BMW Flow summer riding boots.  It was a good trip and I was able to make it back to watch the Virginia - Auburn basketball game.   Go Wahoos!

Congrats on the raffle, that's a great score! My wife crashed on her bike while training at speed and got a concussion, so it's minding her for a couple days. Oh, her bike is OK, just scratched a bit. Helmet did it's job and probably saved her from being a cabbage.

These are the new BMW Flow summer riding boots I won at Morton's open house.  I wore them home and found them to be much cooler than the full leather ones although they are not waterproof.

Yes, nice boots.  I like them but if rain is in the forecast I will opt for my Dianese Gore-Tex.

You guys are so lucky to have choice kit. If it rains, I have to stop at a supermarket for plastic produce bags to rubberband around the Van's.
