WTB K1100 LT Front Forks - 1997
« on: November 28, 2018, 06:30:30 PM »
Hi All,

Bike had a leaking right front fork seal and it appears that the bushing at the bottom of the chrome bit has come off and jammed it up.  the only recourse is to cut off the stanchion and this means new forks.

I am based in Sydney NSW, and if any one has a set of forks that they want to get rid off - I would be most grateful.

cheers

Andrew

It's exactly like the Chris Harris Ewe-Tube video.  I haven't got them apart, but am guessing that's the problem and will need some sort of cutting device to get them off.  It's frustrating as hell and guess what, the seals were done by the local dealer a couple of years ago.  Same scenario as the video.

Basically, I am stuck with a bike with no front forks!  Even worse, because I am time poor, I dropped it off a bike repair shop for it's yearly rego inspection and to get a service done at the same time - when they noticed the RHS fork was leaking.  So it's sitting in the middle of the shop with no wheel and they can't move it because it's too big and heavy.

trying to help them source some forks so they get rid of the bike and I get it back again!

cheers

Andrew

I just disassembled my 1994 K1100LT and have a complete front end. I had replaced the fork seals about 3,000 miles ago. The bike had a major rear drive catastrophe. So that's why I'm parting it out. Getting it to Australia is a big if, but if you're interested, I can send more details and photos.

Hi Dave

Thanks for the reply - you are my best lead at the moment.  K1100 forks are proving quite scarce here in Aussie.  I suppose you could disassemble the front end and just send the two forks.  Not sure how much the postage will be.

My email address is grandpiper@@@hotmaildotcom

cheers

I brought a pair of 1100 LT forks thinking they were the same as the ones on my K100RS - it turns out they are not quite, meaning I am prepared to sell them to you if it helps.

I am in Costa Rica so shipping might be even worse but at least you have a second possible option.
