Withdrawn from sale-
1987 BMW K75, solid, simple, good running K bike. Everything works. Smoothest bike ever. Please excuse the following epic description, I'm trying to save myself some grief from the Craigslist crowd....
Please read the ad carefully, there's a lot of information!
I have been riding BMWs for many years and have owned four K bikes. The K75 (750 cc) came out during a very good era for BMW. They had started making excellent fuel injected multi-cylinder engines (derived from a car engine- large oil capacity & very under stressed) but had not yet added the many complex electrical systems that we see on the current bikes. As such, the BMW K100 and K75 are two of the most solid and reliable bikes that BMW ever made. I've met several riders who have more than 300,000 miles on their K75s. The K100 is more powerful but the K75 is much smoother, somewhat lighter and a bit better balanced. The bike has a huge following and many BMW riders were very unhappy when BMW stopped making it in 1995. Many modern BMW motorcycles cannot match the reliability of these K bikes from the late 1980s-1990s. Check out the motobrick.com forum...informative and entertaining!
There were three core versions of the K75: a standard (sold without fairing), an S (with sport fairing and low bars) and an RT (with upright bars and a full fairing). Having spent a good amount of time on all three, I think the standard works the best. The K75S is beautiful but the fairing doesn't provide much protection and the low bar position can be uncomfortable for long distance riding. The RT has a great riding position (for touring) and great cold weather protection but it is the most top heavy of the three and its fairing traps a lot of heat in the summer. The standard model, with a sport windshield, gives some wind protection but doesn't make the bike hot to ride in the summer.
Fresh fluids: engine oil, transmission oil. & final drive oil.
The bike has about 20,000 miles, again, nothing for a K bike. I ride it occasionally so the miles will go up slightly.
Many extras: BMW OEM accessory windshield ( the real one), the hard to find Siebenrock (German) top case(lockable & removable) , full set of BMW system cases (two sides & top case), rare Staintune(Australian, all stainless steel, unreal sound ) exhaust, original BMW engine guards, original exhaust also included, owners manual, both keys, assorted literature & paperwork, some filters and misc. parts also.
