My old instrument cluster is toast so I thought I'd give an aftermarket speedo a try. I'm not a wiring genius so I got a magic box from Marulabs. Unfortunately I've still managed to be dumbfounded by this cheap chinese speedometer. I've looked around and gathered as much reading material (in english) as I could from the Marulabs forums. What I wasn't able to find was any help regarding positive and negative leads for every wire, as shown in the pics I attached. the ebay listing I got this off lists the wires as such:
Wiring method:
Fault machine oil lamp: Negative pole:black wire, Positive pole:red wire(bullet)
Left and right turn light: Negative pole:black wire, Positive pole:yellow wire
Headlight: Negative pole:white wire, Positive pole:blue wire
Neutral light: Negative pole:black wire, Positive pole:green wire
Internal illumination: Negative pole:black wire, Positive pole:red wire(male tab)
Notice that most of the ground wires are the same, along with some of the positive wires. The wiring provided also shows a bit of discrepancy with the final product, because there are only 3 black wires, and an additional yellow wire.
My thought is to combine positive and negative leads as shown. But for the most part I've gotten no response in the speedo. When the black and red are placed in "CC" I get a backlight; when the white and blue are placed in "HIB" there is no response, but if the blue/white is put in "<>" the headlight indicator will blink with the turn signals. As for the yellow turn signal wires, no combination in the three blinker inputs will do anything.
I feel like I'm flying blind with this cheap speedo. If I've missed something that's been staring me in the face for this whole week I'd love to hear it.
