Third Brick is a charm!
« on: August 31, 2018, 10:19:37 AM »
Hello fellow Motobrickers,
First off: Thank you for a really great site! I've leaned lots from you over the years!

I've had a K1100RS and a K100RS before and just this week picked up a 1988 K75S. What a delightful bike!!
It fits my current riding needs -navigating NYC traffic, very well. Narrow profile, relatively nimble and plenty powerful.

Nice looking un-molested S you got there.  I always felt BMW hit a high water mark with the K75, simple, dependable, and just the right mix of sport, commuter, touring with some idiosyncrasies thrown in to keep it interesting.

Greetings from the Left Coast.

The K75 is the perfect bike for navigating LA traffic as well for all the above cited reasons.

Welcome, and agree, the K75S is a splendid machine. Your brick is in fine shape for her age :)

Did over 2K miles this summer so far on my recently acquired K75ABS standard... Only about 200 on my airhead. These bikes are really cool! startup is instant, smooth and good handling.

The prices on these bikes are so low  - especially compared to airheads (I've had many Airheads over the years). The Ks are like well kept secrets!
Still, I really feel like I lucked out paying $1300 for this one.
Sure, it needs a few things: Fork seals weep a bit and the rear brake master cyl needs a rebuild (lever action notchy).
The bike does have an Ohlin shock that should be rebuild at some point.
I will also be looking for a stock seat. The Corbin it has now is in good shape but I always felt Corbins are too wide - trade anyone? :)

Right now however, I'm totally enjoying it!

I have a BMW solo seat that came with my 1990 K75 off Cape Cod. The seat is in great shape, no cuts or rips. See pictures below. I'd be willing to trade for the Corbin. (I'd like to be able to take a passenger).

Yes, a fun machine and a great community to keep them running.

Great! I'll PM you.
The Corbin on mine has a small beginning tear. I will get you pictures and you can see how it looks to you and if you might be interested.
