K75RT goes Naked
« on: July 04, 2018, 08:43:01 AM »
Well - even though it's pewked it's oil/water mixture, see other thread, here's a few pics of the before and after on my 91 K75RT.

RT Fairing stripped away
K75T Cowl fitted with indicators
Complete Bodywork re-paint
New Fuel Pump and Wiring cleaned

Still missing a Radiator Cowl - seems it's a K100 Rad on the RT and standard 75 one doesn't fit...
Pretty pleased with the results - let me know what you think.

Looks pretty nice.  IMO it doesn't need the radiator cowl.  As it stands now it has more of an organic mechanical look.

I would black out that flange hanging from the tank to make it less apparent.  Don't remove it as you never know if you might want to go back.

Thanks - good idea re Blacking out Tank bottom - though bigger issues ongoing as you know!

Thanks for your post on that too - though wouldn't a K with a full cooling system - if it was full - run for as long as you need as long as the fan is kicking in and out and coolant is circulating?

Garage said levels were good and it cooled fine with hot pipes and Radiator...

Find some flat rubber plugs after painting the flange as suggested.

here is my 1991 naked RT

this will give you an idea  what it looks like with radiator cowl and small givi screen.

the screen deflects enough air off my upper body to make it comparatively comfy riding when travelling in excess of 60mph.

I took it off and went for a high speed ride without it and immediately put it back on when i got home

aesthetically i prefer the  addition of the radiator cowling alone.
but the screen, although a bit fugly, certainly enhances the riding experience
