‘85 K 100 rear brake reservoir replacement
« on: July 03, 2018, 06:39:39 AM »
Where does one get a Brembo reservoir for the rear brake on a K100? Do they come with a new cinch ring clip to attach to the hose? As you can see I have a fluid retention issue with my current one!!

I just got an OME for $20 some, It didn't come with a clamp but a small worm clamp worked just fine.

I did manage to get one ordered and received in my "local" shop A-J Cycle Down in Gill, Mass. (not too bad $25, incl. shipping). Now for the next hurdle... Where do I get the hose that goes from the res. to the rear master cylinder? it appears to be a blue plastic hose with a braided covering, approx. 1/4" IDx3/8"OD 8-1/2" long. Would fuel hose work for this?

A local hydraulic or brake shop should have something that you can use.

The reason your rear MC reservoir broke like that is because it is subjected to ultraviolet light from the sun that, over time, embrittles the plastic.  Any shock to the plastic causes this.  BMW recognised this problem early on and the later models of K-bikes hid the rear MC reservoir under the right side battery cover.  Do what caveman suggests and get a small aftermarket reservoir and the longer feed tube, BMW PN 34321457880 or an equivalent.  Then locate the MC reservoir under the battery cover and out of the sun.  The MC reservoir doesn't have to be large.

I just replaced the MC on my '78R100S and used some worm clamps without issue.

Based on my air-cooled VW experience I ensured that I used some new blue hose and knowing that there is no pressure, a worm clamp works just fine.
