K1100LT Cafe build/Help is more than welcome
« on: June 13, 2018, 02:53:48 PM »
Hello,

I haven't written here before but I'll guarantee that I have been here reading others posts for awhile  :deal:
I'm almost finished with my first build (Pics coming soon) but I have stumbled across a little problem I was wondering if anyone of you more experienced have already encountered.

So, my fork swap for the ZX-7R forks are almost done but I still need to find new brake discs. I'm currently using the stock ZX-7R tokico brake calipers, which are made for 320mm brake rotor. You propably know that the rotors K1100 has, are 305mm.

I have been asking for couple of dealers here that if they have any brake discs that would suit my need but with no luck. Do anyone of you know if theres a fitting rotors for my situation? Or do i need to invest on ZX-7R front wheel + rotors?

Thanks if anyone of you can help me  :yes

I would get the zx7r wheel and discs. If i'm not mistaken its a three spoke. You can match it with a k1100 three spoke rear wheel and no one will notice. Plus you won't have any problems getting the k1100 front wheel into the Kawasaki forks. Which would be a bitch.  :2thumbup:

Yeah, this is what I thought also. I did manage to get the wheel and the forks to match with a little bit of machining and measuring.  I have been actually looking to buy the said three spoke kawasaki wheel but was just wondering if there would be a rotor that would match the hub of the rim, or the bobbins.

greetings...

lemme understand... you did a zx-7r swap without figgering out the wheel and brakes first...

 :yow

j o

Whats the fun in figuring it out beforehand?  :dunno On a more serious note, I did have plans on machining all of them to fit, but when I got to the brakes I realised some of my plans were not so good and thats the situation I am now.

Yes i did, needed to make slight modifications to get the steering angles right. They seem okay for now but i will see the real behaviour only after i get to ride it.

Then surely the easiest option is complete Kawasaki end wheel discs brakes. No machining required

Yep, started to look for decent kawa wheel today. Also asked price for custom made brake rotors.

In the meantime, i'll post some before/now pictures. I hope they are scaled well.

Dont know if advertising is allowed here, hope not. But I bought it from cafe4racer. I like how it can be turned to two seater in a matter of seconds. The cowl can be taken off and replaced with another seat. (Althought i'm not planning on taking passanger  :hehehe)

That's interesting! I would like to avoid an extra MOT-equivalent going from registered for 1 passenger to no passengers. Are those the original footpegs?

Haven't been here on the forums, too much fun riding it :D. Also been busy with work. I'll post some more pictures in the future. The rear cowl can be removed and replaced with a seat for passanger, i have the seat but for this summer I decided it's more enjoyable to ride alone + i would need to make new pegs to suit passanger also. The pegs are not original, can't remember where i bought them, but the price wasn't so bad.

Resurrecting a thread from the dead: Can i have a detailed photo of the adjustments made to the rear frame to fit this seat please?
i am going to buy the same seat from Cafe4Racer, but would like to have some homework done before it arrives.
