control unit plastic cover?
« on: March 23, 2018, 02:15:38 AM »
was just looking thru my haynes manual to remind myself which way i needed to push the release clip so i could remove the control unit and the instructions began "remove side cover then Pull cover for fuel injection control unit to one side".

i realized i am missing this plastic cover that covers the actual plug.

i have perused  the Max bmw parts fiche to try and find this cover, more out of interest than anything but i failed to find it.

my bike is a 1991 K75RT

can anyone shed some light as to this cover and part number is on the parts fiche

You'll find it under K100RT in the Seat section's Tool Box diagram.

This cover have never been mounted on your bike, it wasn't used anymore from -90 and on.

I bought my used K75 from a guy in Maine who let me test ride it alone for half an hour before I bought it. After I trailered it back to Vermont, I hadn't ridden it for ten minutes when it stopped dead. The L-Jetronic plug was loose. After I set the latch with more tension then reinstalled the plug, everything was ok. Thousands of miles later I found out about that plug mudguard and thought "That might keep the plug secure." Never bought one. Tens of thousands of miles later, I—like BMW—learned the bike doesn't need one. They still can be purchased though. It might be a stylish touch for a queered-out K.
