Thanks for admitting me to the club!

I just took “delivery” of an ‘85 K100RS, taken in partial trade for a new rain gutter system.  It has been sitting on a front porch, covered, last tagged in ‘02.

My business partner (pictured modeling the bike cover) and I got it loaded in the trailer and back to our shop, where a short evaluation was undertaken.

We found:

1. The fuel tank is almost completely clean, even though it’s half full (I checked twice to make sure the stench wasn’t altering my vision.).

2. No sludge or deposits could be seen through the oil filler cap.

3. It’s missing a mirror (can’t remember which side).

4. One of the mounting tabs on the right side cover broke, and was sloppily repaired.

The research begins...

Thanks all for the hospitality.

Mileage is 60K & change-- barely broken in, from what I've read.

Please, do not chop it into another bad cafe racer !!! I envy the color. Try to get the blinkers before they go extinct.
Enjoy.

Alex, if it's not in a cup I don't do the cafe thing.  I have an originality affectation, generally speaking.

One area that likely won't remain original is the color: it just doesn't do anything for me.  The finish is pretty beat up, so it's a good candidate for a respray, anyway.

I have one mirror/indicator, and I'm going to stop by the PO's to find out whether he might have the other.  Hoping for the best, because they ain't cheap from what I've found.

If you have found one, consider buying it because they are uncommon.

Believe me, I will, if the PO can't locate the missing mirror. Fingers crossed.
