Hej Enfield

Super flot byggget! Jeg er selv igang :)

I just have a few questions, that I hope could help me with my build.

What rear spring are you using?

What did you use to paint the engine, and how did you clean/prep it?

What did you use to paint the frame, and how did you clean/prep it?

What did you use to paint the wheels, and how did you clean/prep them?

What did you use to paint the tank, and how did you clean/prep it?

Did you change the tires yourself or did you have help from a professional?

Venlig hilsen

Rasmus

Hyggeligt med flere fra Dk - går og skruer i Charlottenlund.

Hi I had frame and engineparts powder costed - sandblasted first! No problem with the frame - but ve sure to find someone who have blasted aluminium before!!! They were a bit hard on my engine parts - they do look ok - but could have been better. For cleaning i used something called Maxi 3 and very very warm water - tales almost everything off.
A lot of the small parts I blasted with Natrium Bicarbonate - 25 Kgs for next to nothing og you buy it somewhere ( DLG in Denmark) where they sell supplies for livestock.

What is the difference in the spring from the 1100 to an early K-model (83)

I needed the extra height as I didn’t want the end of the frame to go upwards.
With normal spring there would be Way to little distance to the tyre!

Lovely build, I really like the tank colour. What size tyres are you running? Im curious about the rear tyre but the front looks like a tight fit with the fender  :riding:

Thank you
 I run Heidenau Scout - front is 4.00-18 , rear is 140/80-17
Front tyre is thight - plan to make some brackets to lift the front fender a bit.
Tank colour is German WW2 ... “feld grau”.

There's also a lesson in pattern-making in one of those photos, too. :giggles

It's a good-looking machine for sure, Enfield.

Thanks @Laitch and @DJEwen  will post when I get round to making a bracket of some kind.  I have just finished a base for a new seat ( the off the shelf one I got is not a perfect fit) Plan to have a pro to make it in full grain leather as the bags!

Did you get your off the shelf seat from Texavina?

No from Boxerclasicas in Spain. It is ok - but I want one in full grain leather, and a better fit around the gas tank. - also allowing space for the tank mount!

Ahh.. never heard of them. I have a little fitment issue with mine also, its about 1/2" shy of the tank, do you know if theres any play to be able to move the tank back slightly to close the gap? The seat can't come forward any or it won't fit the step in the frame. I've not got as far as removing the tank yet so no idea whether there is any wiggle room or not, I suspect not.

I actually had to cut out the rear tank mount from the frame to allow the seat to seat properly.

Ahh damn.... I wouldnt move the tank back - it kind of locks in some rubberbushes in the front - at least you would have to modify it🤨.
What about finding something Black or whatever - not foam - but still flexible that you could cut in shape of end of seat and then glue it on the tank. It would of course need to have a closed edge that would look Good.
That was what I thought of before deciding to build a seat🤪.

Hmm, yeah, it's a good idea. Im kind of on two minds what to do though, would prefer if it fitted. May have to get it adjusted slightly or look at modding the frame.

Just an Update . Changed the Seat - made a plywood base and had it finished with full grain leather. It Will be a while before a Good patina develops..

No chance of getting a sore backside with the amount of foam in that badboy!

Nope - it is build to be used!! ..... but I Think the guy who did the foam and leather was maybe a little too generous with the foam[emoji848]....at least compared to Sir Ulrich[emoji23] ....that must be a sore backside after 3 hours - but the look is unbeatable..
