Glad to hear you have done your homework.  A lot of custom builders are 95% artist, and 5% engineer.  Looks like you have reversed that equation.  Anyone who can build a successful Dakar rally car certainly knows what they are doing.

7075 aluminium. Good stuff, but please do not weld anything to it. The high alloy content makes it very susceptible to stress corrosion cracking once taken out of the T7xx temper at which it is supplied. I would not even bake the paint, but use catalyzed paint !

Thanks for the concerns. Actually there is nothing to be welded on the triple clamps, just pure cnc machining. The finishing will be anodizing, as the rest of the aluminum parts.
To have more info about what we are doing you are welcome to visit www.taifunoffroad.ro, our business website.
Here you have the triple clamps 7075 material :)

My latte cup holders are angled further outboard than those. Moving the face shield at highway speed to sip the foam is still problematic.  :yes

Looks amazing, I cannot wait to see the finished bike.  What are you plans when it is finished? Ride, it, show it, sell it?

Thks :) Actually, I'm very excited about this project. When it will be finished I'll ride it, show it and maybe (but unlikely :) to sell it :)

As we speak, fabricating the triple clamps, keeping the bmw geometry and bearings, but accommodating the Suzuki gsx-r shocks with wider distance for the 320 mm disk brakes.

Some parts we sand blasted, prepared and painted with thermo resistant paint. Tomorrow we will do the same on the engine itself.

The engine is painted, same thermo resistant paint. 2 days and 2 men in order to properly prepare the engine. But the final result worth it, I would say :)

Looks strange to see the fasteners all painted over. What's the plan with them?

To replace it with stainless steel. As I did with all the fasteners we used so far on the bike.

All prepared in order to airbrush the wheels. The wheels are sand blasted, epoxy primer, and than prepared and white painted with 2k paint. A bit late, considering it's December 24th, 15.50 local time... :///

Wow.  Just wow.  Any time I want to confirm that I am an incompetent blacksmith vs. a metal fabricator I know where to come.

Respect.

My friend, thanks for the nice words. But : it is not like that at all. None of us was born with the wrenches in the hand. None, for sure. It is just a matter of time, experience, will to learn (and the necessary time) and passion. It is not even a matter of money. Because if you are creative (and knowledgeable), you can come up with the right solutions for the proper amount of money. Just my 2 cents :)

The electronics are here :) plus the disc brake rotors. Now I can finish the engineering on the rotors adaptors for the k100 wheel.

So, we have now the triple clamps. Everything is fine, no mistakes here :). The finishing is still to be done, anodizing, etc, but we have it, so we can advance now with the build.

Thanks. Some more photos with the actual status. All the aluminum parts are anodized now, I need some time to mount everything back.
