Brand New K100 anybody WTF!!
« on: October 26, 2017, 02:32:50 PM »
Hi Kids

Found this little Gem on Fleabay from a bike dealer in Sheffield UK. A "brand new" old stock k100 with just 40miles . I'm sorely tempted but would you mothball it or just use it? And how does that happen anyway?.

It would be from a private collector ( deceased estate ) or a museum I would guess. There's always that old problem of do I ride it or not. Me, I would put it on Classic registration and ride the thing :riding: ......or not :dunno2: . I used to be indecisive but now I'm not sure :laughing-on-ground: .

  Cheers

Even if it hasn't been ridden it needed love and attention just to stop the aluminium ( that's al-u-min-ium  :hehehe ) from corroding and rust forming in its little crevices. it's been in a warm place and there ain't too many in Sheffield

The only one I have heard of before was a Yamaha that was bought by a US Navy sailor in Japan, shipped to US, and forgotten in the crate in some storage unit.

Those tires look new not new old stock. If you are going to mothball a new motorcycle for 30 years you better do it right.....

There's a bike dealer in the UK with a brand-new Yamaha (350 I think) still in the box it came in...!!

I bought a 1992 R100RS from a collector.  It had been unused for 18 years.  I changed out all the seals and rubber bits and I am riding the hell out of it.  That is what they are for.  Every now and then one gets squirreled away and not used and maybe it is neat that a few of these exist.  Better that I don't own it, because it would get ridden or sold.

That is like having a girlfriend who is too pretty to...  Oh, never mind.
