FS - 1995 BMW K75S w/ABS
« on: October 07, 2017, 03:04:38 PM »

Up for sale today is my beloved 1995 BMW K75S with working ABS in Artic Silver with blue and white pinstripes. This bike has been absolutely fantastic since I bought it from the 3rd owner in 2013 with 66k. The bike is currently set up for long distance riding and touring and has 112k. It has a lot of very desirable (and costly) parts including: Russell Day long saddle for both passenger and rider, “K75C” bars which put you in a more comfortable position, hard to find black crash bars, rare Bagster tank bag cover with integrated hooks for a tank bag, even more rare Renoylds rear rack, BMW saddlebags that are keyed to the ignition, a Givi-cloan rear top box, Aeroflow windshield (fixed crack) with an extender, Fox “Clicker” shock (rebuilt last year), K&N air filter, progressive fork springs, Randakk cycle shack grips, Eastern Beaver H4 headlight relay kit with brighter headlight bulb, BMW “cruise control” throttle lock, fender extender, FULL BMW tool kit and a pair of fork mounted LED lights. I also have the original clear BMW windshield and original silver lower fairing air dam. The bike also comes with another set of tires with 60% life left.

I have ZERO hesitation to ride this bike any distance as I’ve done a lot of work to make sure it will never let me down (it’s never let me stranded). I have completed a lot of Iron Butt Associations rides on this wonderful bike. Besides the normal fluid changes (Mobil 1 fully-synthetic engine oil, synthetic tranny, synthetic final drive, brake fluid, fork oil, spark plugs, coolant, fuel filter) work includes: regularly lubing both the clutch and final drive splines with Guard Dog high-moly grease (104k), replaced steering head bearings (87K), cleaned injectors (by Mr. Injectors), clutch cable (87k), breather hose (87k), rear main seal (87k), scrotator rubber plus new cup (87k), oil pan gasket (93k), coolant hoses (93k), front wheel bearings (93k) gas cap rebuilt, final drive seal, LED backlight gauge, new battery last year.

I have records of the bike’s service all the way back until it was new. I also have record of EVERY gas fill-up over the time that I’ve owned the bike as well as receipts for the work that I’ve done. Always garaged.

Again, everything works as it should, including the ABS. NO LEAKS

Clear title in my name. 2 foldable keys, 1 standard key.

It seems that K75’s in good shape are going up in value as they move into “collectors” status. Kelley Blue book trade-in is $2200, suggested retail value is $3570.  NADA value is 2590 for very good, and $3985 for excellent.

$2999 OBO

Note that photos were taken just after the bike was washed, and that I’ve included several pics of the lower fairing and original windshield.

body damage?  isn't it just the windscreen?

At what mileage do you think it will need a clutch, drive shaft and final drive?

mlytle - Blue is correct - it's just the windshield that has a crack in it. All current bodywork is intact (including the priceless turn signals).

Did the picture link not come through?

I can always swap the Aeroflow for the good BMW stock windshield if that's what the buyer is after.

Blue - the clutch was at 5.00 mm (new is near 5.5 to 6.0??) in May of 2016.

Clutch splines are in good condition and so are both ends of the shaft drive and final drive. The shaft has been lubed every 6-10k since i've seen what can happen if you don't. If you're interested, I can send you some pictures, and if you're serious, I can pull the drive and take fresh photos.

My offer is $1050 cash right now.  Can fly and ride right now as the weather in MN is still fly and rideable.

Feeling a bit generous are we, Blue?  Where is the usual $35 delivered offer?

This is what I would do.  I would commute to Rochester and give the owner $1050 for the title and motorcycle as pictured and described.  Then I would pilot it the long way home.

Riding home on a bike that has issues that make it worth only $1050?  You are cetainly a brave man.

BTW, where did you find a $35 plane ticket???

Blue - just trying to understand - what do you think the bike all needs? Quite a few parts have been renewed and replaced in the last couple of years.

(Also, I'm not sure how comfortable it would be to bring home the extra tires, windshield, air dam, etc.)

Now, the bike is worth what it's worth, but am I way overpriced with the accessories on the bike? It seems to be inline with other K75S's that are around here and the NADA/KBB values.

It is high mileage and will need significant investment.

Investment as in a flight to MN and gas back home?

(Maybe this is just Blue trolling me, in which case, he's doing a great job!)

I did not say the bike has issues.

Then why the need for "significant investment"?

My offer still stands as the price of Jet-A remains the same.  Looking at the clock, I can still be there today if the decisions is made expeditiously.

Everybody who is of the opinion that a 22 year old motorcycle with 112 thousand miles will not need significant investment is delusional.

My offer still stands as the price of Jet-A remains the same.  Looking at the clock, I can still be there today if the decisions is made expeditiously.

Thanks Blue, but I think I'm going to have to decline your initial offer.

There are many shippers (Federal, U-ship) that can get to bike to your place for much cheaper than you can fly/drive. Maybe that's an option for you?

Also, would you care to elaborate on what you think needs to be fixed? I'm more than happy to do the work if that makes the deal.

It sure is! This past weekend I changed oil, filled the tank up with non-ethonol gas, and added some Stabil. PM me when you'd like to take a look  :bmwsmile

Now sitting at about 113k. It now has the original windscreen on it, but the Aeroflow is still included.
